Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, is under fire from Republicans for calling Texas Gov. Greg Abbott “Governor Hot Wheels” during her speech at a Human Rights Campaign dinner in Los Angeles Saturday.
“Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there. Come on now,” Crockett said to the crowd. “And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot ass mess, honey.”
It is well known that Abbott was paralyzed after a tree fell on him when he went out for a jog in 1984.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) was quick to slam Crockett, saying that she is an example of the state of the Democratic Party today.
“House Dems’ top spox Jasmine Crockett applauded after attacking Texas Governor Abbott for using a wheelchair,” the NRCC wrote on X. “Recent polling shows Crazy Crockett as one of the leaders of the Democrat Party. This is who they are.”

“Democrats, please keep giving Jasmine Crockett the microphone We’ll never lose an election again,” she said.
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, pointed out that her comments would have made national headlines if a Republican said the same thing.
“Crockett’s comments are disgraceful,” Cornyn said. “Can you imagine if a Republican said something like this? It would be on [the] front page of NYT [New York Times] and all over CNN.”
Crockett responded to the criticism on social media Tuesday afternoon.
“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” she wrote on X.
“Literally, the next line I said was that he was a “Hot A** Mess,” referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition,” she added. “So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump—a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities—are now outraged.”
